Farsi Classes

Teaching Farsi as a mother tongue language is conducted for ages 7-20 across five different levels:

Farsi Level 1 (Beginners):

Level 1 consists of three terms. At this level, students become familiar with the characters, alphabet, and basic vocabulary. They will learn to recognize sounds and syllables. By the end of this level, students should be able to read and write. They should also be able to make simple sentences using a variety of basic vocabulary.

Farsi Level 2:

At this level, students expand their vocabulary and improve their understanding of synonyms, antonyms, and reading comprehension. By the end of this level, students should be able to read and write more fluently, write short texts and stories, and start reading simple poems.

Farsi Level 3:

At this level, students’ reading and writing skills will improve through the study of more complex texts. They will delve into grammar, literature, and learn more about Iranian culture, history, geography, and poetry. Students will enhance their comprehension and composition skills and develop their translation abilities. By the end of this level, they should be able to translate Farsi poems into very simple sentences and better understand their meaning. Additionally, they will start practicing simple calligraphy, focusing on advanced handwriting.

Farsi Level 4:

At this level, students will delve deeper into grammar and literature. They will learn to recognize different parts of a sentence, including subjects, objects, nouns, pronouns, and verb tenses. In addition, students will gain a deeper understanding of Iranian culture, history, and geography while enhancing their translation skills. By the end of this level, they should be able to translate more complex poems into simple sentences, both in written and oral forms, with greater ease. Students will also learn to write short essays and explore proverbs and expressions, practicing their use in everyday life. Their conversation skills will become more confident and natural.

Farsi Level 5:

At this level, students will study more advanced grammar, focusing on adjectives and the various tenses of past, present, and future. They will begin practicing GCSE exam papers and work on writing more complex essays with an expanded vocabulary. Students will also explore more poetry, old prose, and additional proverbs and expressions, learning to understand their meanings and applying them appropriately.

Farsi Level 6 (GCSE Preparation):

At this stage, students will revise everything they have learned in previous years to solidify their knowledge. By the end of this year, students should be able to speak fluently about themselves, their family and friends, hobbies and interests, school, and future plans. They will be able to understand more complex pieces of writing, and their comprehension skills will be highly developed. Students’ writing skills will reach the standard required for the GCSE exam, enabling them to easily write letters, emails, short stories, articles, blogs and essays of varying lengths. Their listening skills will also meet the standard level. By the end of this year, students should be confident and fully prepared to sit for the GCSE exams.

We aim to focus on developing reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, which will include grammar, comprehension, punctuation, and spelling taught progressively. To reinforce these skills, we will provide worksheets and books, and each lesson will incorporate some revision.

Farsi A Level:

At this stage, students should be able to understand more complex pieces of writing, and their comprehension skills will be highly developed. Their writing skills will meet the standards required for the A-Level exam, allowing them to conduct research, summarize their understanding, and analyze their findings with ease. As part of their preparation, students will choose one book and one film from the list provided by the exam board. They will be expected to read the book or watch the movie and then critically analyze and write an essay about their selected work.

In addition to literature and film analysis, the curriculum includes five topics that enhance their knowledge about Iran’s history, culture, economics, and social and current issues within the country and the world. Students will also engage in independent research on one of the subjects provided by the exam board, where they must explore all aspects of their chosen topic.

The course includes a reading assessment based on a variety of text types and genres, requiring students to respond to a series of comprehension questions. They will also translate more unseen and complex passages from English into Persian and vice versa. By the end of this two-year course, students should feel confident and fully prepared to sit for the Persian A-Level exam.
