Hafez Persian Language School History
The School provides a facility for those people who wish to learn and improve their knowledge of this traditional and historical language and to learn about Persian civilisation and history. Hafez Persian Language Association was formed in 1999 to introduce children and young people to the Persian Language and Culture. This is done by formal weekly language classes and a series of cultural events throughout the year. The language classes are held at The School believes that the teaching of Persian and the introduction to culture will help the children achieve a greater understanding of the values held by their elders, giving them the self confidence to develop a well balanced personality with a reduced risk of alienation in our multi-cultural society. It is now nearly eleven years since the school was established. The test results in all levels are higher than the expected targets. The raising of standards in writing, reading, listening and speaking in all levels show that this program has been very successful. This shows many strengths and significant improvement. However, due to the increasing demand, encouragement of the members and kind financial help from friends, the school has grown substantially and now: · provides five mother tongue language classes in different levels for ages between 7 and 20 · publishes its own text books for all levels and teaches its own curriculum leading to GCSE · prepares the students for GCSE and organises the exams with OCR examination board with very successful results. The school is now registered with OCR and formally conduct exams for GCSE & AS & A2 exams. · provides a conversation class for non-Farsi speaking residents within the Borough · holds an Iranian drama and classic dance class and Guitar lesson · provides sport (Taekwondo and football) activities for all community members · organises regular indoor and outdoor cultural events for all community members
· Contributed in London Borough of Sutton (LBS) cultural exhibitions and events. · Provided Iranian art & craft classes for those interested within the community. HPLA is currently running Spanish and French conversation class, supplementary Maths in primary school level and Maths & Science in GCSE levels for the students within the school and anyone interested from outside within London Borough of Sutton. |
